Scrapbooking is the practice of combining photos, memorabilia and stories in a scrapbook style album. Scrapbooking has been around about as long as there has been photos, but the scrapbooking that has evolved in the 90's is new and different. Therefore people looked at ways to preserve the photo image, particularly with their colour photos.
Acid free papers are now used in traditional albums which helps the preservation process.
If you were to do traditional scrapbooking you would need a lot of supplies to create just one page. Papers, scissors, ribbons, glue, stickers, all sorts of various embellishments
and many of hours to do the work.
With more and more people using digital cameras today and storing their precious photos on CD's or in their computer, digital scrapbooking is becoming more popular.
Digital Scrapbooking is simply creating the traditional scrapbook page/albums on your computer. They can then be stored in an online album, CD or printed out to make a tradional album.
Digital Scraping items are also now being used
to create SigTags......a combination of an artists work,
rather than photos, although these too can be used
and various other items to make an image one uses
on emails or simply just for enjoyment.
They are also popular on places like My Space and
Facebook and Forums.
Copyright Law still is a big part of digi-scrapping
as the creator of the kits are the copyright holders
of the items contained there in.
However most kits are credited with eg.
Scrapkit by (creators name)
rather than the usual İsymbol.
Always read the Terms of Use for any kit you use.
